Who is using multi-screen technology?

Recently, Bill Gates, was interviewed by Fortune magazine and talked about the benefits of multi-screen lcd technology. He spoke about how he uses it within his office to increase productivity, "On my desk I have three screens, synchronized to form a single desktop. I can drag items from one screen to the next. Once you have that large display area, you'll never go back, because it has a direct impact on productivity." If Bill Gates, the most successful and rich person on the planet, is using multi-monitor technology to increase his productivity and swears by it, you can rest assured that you will see a definitive benefit when utilizing the multi-screen technology yourself. He also went in to detail about what he uses it for, saying, "The screen on the left has my list of e-mails. On the center screen is usually the specific e-mail I'm reading and responding to. And my browser is on the right-hand screen. This setup gives me the ability to glance and see what new has come in while I'm working on something, and to bring up a link that's related to an e-mail and look at it while the e-mail is still in front of me."

Now, not all of us are Bill Gates or are receiving the amount of emails per day that he does, but we can still see a benefit by using multi-monitor computer technology. For instance, say you're researching a paper for school or work and you need to have a research reference up on the screen. At the same time you may need to be typing down the information so that you can write your paper. Well, if you have one computer monitor, you will have to go back and forth to type and look at the research reference. Now imagine having another screen that you can have open on the research reference and another monitor that has your word processing application! You can read and type at the same time without having to squint to look at resized windows or toggle between computer programs on your single monitor! Take a minute to think of the amount of time that you will save having just a dual monitor setup.
